Michael True
A scholar and activist who devoted himself and his work to the cause of nonviolence, Dr. True taught at Assumption College for many years and authored ten books, including An Energy Field More Intense Than War: The Nonviolent Tradition and American Literature (1995) and Frontiers of Nonviolence, with Chaiwat Satha-Anand (2001). From 2001 to 2003 he served as President of the Board of Directors of the International Peace Research Association, which was founded by friend of the Center Elise Boulding in 1964. He was also co-founder and a board member of the Center for Non-Violent Solutions, Worcester, MA. Though his commitment to nonviolence was personally motivated by Christian teachings, he firmly believed that people of all faiths along with non-religious humanists had vital contributions to make in our quest to “learn the language of peacebuilding.”
