John Berthrong
Scholar of Confucianism and Chinese Spirituality
John Berthrong was Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Associate Professor of Comparative Theology, Boston University School of Theology. Among many books on Chinese philosophy and spirituality, he is the author of Concerning Creativity: A Comparison of Chu Hsi, Whitehead, and Neville (1998). An early associate and ally of the Center, Dr. Berthrong was a panelist at the Center’s 1997 conference, “Religion and Ecology: Forging an Environmental Ethic across Traditions,” a topic that was central to his ethos. He continued as a loyal friend of and advisor to the Center in the years that followed that event.
