Anita Patterson: Reverence, Peace, Hope

Anita Patterson is a literature professor at Boston University whose work focuses on American literature, modernism, and black poetry of the Americas. A longtime friend of the Ikeda Center, she has been a speaker in two Ikeda Forums: the 2007 forum celebrating "women and the power of friendship" and the 2010 forum exploring "the democratic spirit." She also contributed as a respondent at our book launch event for Creating Waldens and has contributed original essays to our website. In these clips, recorded July 2015, she discusses the influence of Emerson and how she creates a classroom experience conducive to reverence, peace building, and hope.
